Welcome to the Town of Washington Department of
Public Works Web Page. The highway department employs four full time
employees and several part time plow & wing operators and Transfer
Station attendants. We are located
on Rt. 31 approximately 2 miles 2outh of Washington Center and 10 miles
North of the Rt. 9 bypass.
The Highway Department is responsible for all town road and bridge
maintenance as well as the operation of the Washington Transfer Station.
Washington maintains approximately 12 miles of paved road and 30 miles
of dirt roads.
Washington has a Director of Public Works appointed by the Board of
Selectmen. This
position is currently held by Ed Thayer.
The Department has a foreman, maintenance mechanic, and equipment
