Burn Permits

Except when the ground is covered with snow: 

Any person who kindles a fire in the Town of Washington is required to obtain a written burn permit from the Washington Town Fire Warden, one of his deputies, or one of his issuing agents. Please refer to the table below for their respective contact information. No fire may be kindled during VERY HIGH, or EXTREME FIRE DANGER.

Burn permits can now be obtained on-line directly from the NH Division of Forests and Lands.  To purchase a permit on-line go to https://nh.burnsafeamerica.com/  Click on "Purchase a Permit" at the top of the page. You will need to review a 7 question affidavit of the rules then complete the applicant information.

There is a $5.50 fee for the permit (less than the IRS mileage allowance for driving to the Transfer or Fire Stations and back home!) which can be paid by credit card.  

Those without computer or printer access can use the public access computers at the Shedd Free Library or contact one of the Deputy Warden or Issuing Agents listed below.
