Crandall opened the meeting at 7:00PM, at Center Station.

1.0       Chidester Driveway Permit – Crandall had spoken to Kristine Chidester about the proposed driveway and she said they might plan to build a guest cottage on the lot. She didn’t have any objections to closing the existing driveway cut, so we made this a condition of approval. Kluk made a motion to approve the driveway on the condition that the existing driveway is closed, Dulac seconded the motion and all voted in favor.

2.0       Meeting with Fire and Rescue – Crandall opened the meeting with Fire and Rescue members explaining that the BoS hasn’t been talking to them about their plans but we felt it was important to include them in the conversation. J. Schwartz said that he and Atkins have been leading the building committee and he wants Fire and Rescue to be involved. Atkins couldn’t be here tonight because of a conflict in his schedule. He was not happy with the number of other F/R members that showed up tonight for the meeting. He thought there was non-communication of the meeting and it was last minute. Next Monday is the department’s annual meeting and he will speak with everyone about scheduling another meeting with the PB, maybe the 21st. He wants all the officers there to meet with us. Crandall feels the F/R and Town Hall people are together in wanting the projects to move forward. J. Schwartz thinks it is an uphill battle to do something this year. Kluk brought Gilbert up-to-date with where the BoS is trying to take the project and using the existing station. Gilbert thinks the existing station was always going to get utilized and it wouldn’t be left empty. J. Schwartz said we always wanted Police included in here and he thinks this isn’t forward looking; we have already looked at the plans that are now being suggested. That said they are open to looking at ideas again. Gilbert asked if the plan would have bathrooms in the barn. Schwartz said no, they would be in the admin space, hopefully just 10 feet away from the barn. J. Schwartz said they are willing to look at anything that meets the needs of the departments.

Kluk said we met with Chief Ryan Murdough and he is OK with the way things are right now. Schwartz said just wait until winter; he might have issues then. J. Schwartz said that F/R are open-minded and they will be open to a plan, but esthetics matter. He said the town almost passed the Town Hall project article and it needs to be included in any plans. Schwartz and Gilbert stated that the bathrooms could be co-ed and you could have one shower.

            J. Schwartz said that in the past they did look at many ways of doing things, the new building program was tight and they were keeping the existing building for storage and other needs. He thinks the upstairs of the Town Hall should have access and the Schoolhouse needs to be taken care of.

Dulac said he joined the Planning Board to plan and he wants to come up with a plan to give to the BoS, all the work has been done, we should come up with a plan. Schwartz said that we should come up with a plan with the F/R involved and then involve the wider community. Dulac said we are in communication with the BoS and they said we could take this on and we should move forward. Crandall said the F/R and Town Hall groups need to see plans they can support.

            J. Schwartz will speak with the F/R members and get a meeting together that more can attend.
